Educators in the Workplace

Educators in the Workplace has a simple goal- provide exposure of industrial and manufacturing jobs to teachers, counselors and administrators in southeast Iowa school systems so that they have a much better idea of what types of work are available for their students.  Even if those students don’t have college plans, there many options for high-paying, long-term careers in manufacturing or industrial careers. Educators learn first-hand through tours of a wide variety of industries including machining, health care, foundry, food service, metal fabrication, bioprocessing, farm implement manufacturing, and more!

The workforce and workplaces are changing, and while its ever more technology driven, the basics of safety, quality, teamwork, punctuality and work ethic are still very much in demand. This initiative shows educators what is right in their own backyards; many seniors graduate and want to stay in the area, near their families. There are good jobs with family-sustaining wages to be had in southeast Iowa.
