October 16, 2017, Ottumwa, IA - Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress (GOPIP) is pleased to announce and welcome TJ Heller as the organization’s first Chief Executive Officer. Heller will be responsible for providing team and community leadership, driving fundraising and sustainability strategies, coordinating work related to the strategic priorities as well as general management responsibilities. Heller will start his new role with GOPIP on Monday, October 16, 2017.

Mr. Heller served as Director of Entrepreneurship, Economic Advancement & Incubation at Indian Hills Community College. Heller is widely recognized as a catalyst who was able to transform the business incubator operation, recruiting 6 new start-up businesses and an international business making their first location in the United States at Indian Hills Community College.

Heller has a diverse background which will complement the demands of the new CEO role perfectly. With many years of entrepreneurial experience, matched with retail property development, he understands the critical aspects of how to blend the unique business operations of the Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress members together. Heller shared, “As a lifelong Ottumwa Citizen, I am passionate about our community and consider myself blessed to support and lead the organizations under the GOPIP umbrella. I look forward to immersing myself immediately into the process and driving GOPIP brands to a new level for the betterment of our community.”

Matt Thompson, Chairperson of the GOPIP Executive Board said, “Indian Hills Community College appreciates the contributions from TJ Heller as a high-energy leader who has driven his projects to success. I am sorry to see him leave his position at the college, but am excited to see him elevate his potential in the role of the GOPIP CEO. After years of research and planning, GOPIP is confident we have an amazing candidate to lead our organization and the community into the future. “

The Legacy Foundation is one of the funders for the launch of the new GOPIP organizational model. The other generous funders include: the City of Ottumwa, Ottumwa Economic Development Corporation, Ottumwa Area Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Ottumwa and the Greater Ottumwa Convention and Visitors Bureau.
